It was quite a doozy of a storm last night here in Houston and most of today so that got me to thinking of how I should share my tips to beat rainy day boredom that I use for my kids. Sure I could just let them veg out in front of the TV, but I love to have certain projects, games, and other things that I keep on hand(and hide) to bring out when we have rainy days here. When it is summer then the days are longer and drag on if I can’t take the kids to the pool so read on to see just what I use and where to buy to heat rainy day boredom.

Tips to Beat Rainy Day Boredom
-
- Crafts- Oh my goodness are craft supplies essential. This is one of my biggest boredom busters since it allows the kid’s imagination to soar and can take a good chunk of time. I usually have canvas and painting supplies at the ready. Use your coupons at Michael’s when they have their sales and 20% off everything. Nothing too big as you don’t want your young Picasso painting the whole house. We also love making paper beads. You can use any kind/color of paper to twist and make fun bead necklaces. Here is the one we have:
-
Games- have a few new games on hand stashed away so that you can bring them out and learn how to play them with your kids. We love card cards and just learned how to play SkipBo tonight. Uno is also a family fave as well as Mexican Train game. These are our top three for sure.
-
- Movies- We mostly watch streaming movies, but there are always some that we haven’t seen or you have to pay to see. When we have a rainy day I like rent or purchase something that we ca’t normally get through streaming. We make some popcorn, put down all the pillows on the floor, and snuggle up for movie time. Every gets their own snack tray and I just love these.. so much cheaper then going out to the movies.
