staying safe while traveling

I am really beginning to love traveling. Meeting new people, exploring new cities, and just opening my eyes to things I haven’t experienced before. Like next week, I will be visiting NY for the very first time. I have never been to that far east and north in the country. Most of my traveling has been in the south besides Michigan. I am definitely excited but nervous at the same time. I want to share with you some of my tools and tips for staying safe while traveling.

Keep Your Eyes Open

This may be obvious because after all you can’t really walk with your eyes closed, but I mean to not have your nose stuck in your phone while you walk. Look around you, see what street number or name you are crossing. See what businesses are along the street, you never know you may just be craving that food later. It helps to have a general idea of where you are just in case of an emergency.

Stock Your Purse with Tools that Protect

There is a great company out there called Damsel in Defense that has just the tools that can keep you protected. Pepper spray in this adorable pink case is always with me and only costs $10. If you want to go a step further with protection, there are stun guns that you can recharge just by plugging it in.

Flashlights in the Car

Another fab tool that you can get from Damsel in Defense is a flashlight that can do a wide range of things. It emits an alarm and flashing light, it can break windows, it can cut seat belts, oh and it has a regular light if you need to see at night.

Lock Your Doors

Whether in your car or hotel room, keep your doors locked as much as possible. If you are in a not so nice area of town, you can get a door alarm from Damsel Defense that goes just at the base of the door and an alarm on it can be triggered if the door is opened when it shouldn’t be. This can be used more than while traveling and if you have kiddos with you and they know how to undo locks then having this little gadget in front of the door can alert you if they open the door.

There are many more tools and tricks that I can share with you, but the most important is just be observant. Travel in groups as much as you can so that you are not alone. If you want extra protection to give you a peace of mind, then check out all of the products that Damsel in Defense has to offer to keep you, your friends, and family safe while you travel and even when you are home.
