We are getting the itch in our family to take a trip somewhere. This past weekend we went to my in-laws house and enjoyed our 4th of July with them. It was so nice to get out of our house and get away from the everyday hum drum of life. But we have been wanting to do something more and farther away.
I was given some tickets to Six Flag Fiesta Texas, so I am hoping that we can make it to San Antonio some time this summer. There are lots of fun things to do there and it will be nice to show the kids some new places. Now that they are getting older and remembering things, I want them to be able to experience new places and make memories to last a lifetime.
Going lots of places requires lots of gas. This time of year, gas prices always seem to be rather high! I have been looking at ways to cut costs so that we can afford to take our kids on fun adventures, but that is not always easy. Most of the adventures we have taken lately have been to places that don’t cost us anything to get in to other than gas, which really helps out.
I will be honest that I don’t always shop at Kroger, but I am realizing the benefit of it more and more each day(other than the fact that it is 2 minutes from my house). Kroger has a fantastic program where you can earn fuel rewards just for doing your grocery shopping. You can earn 1 fuel point for every $1 you spend, and on weekends you get 2 fuel points for every $1. This promotion lasts until 7/31.
Since I mostly shop on the weekend, I am earning double the fuel points. Wahoo! Then I head over to Shell, enter my Kroger ID# and the savings are automatically taken off at the pump. The last couple of times I have filled up, I have gotten $.10 off, but you can get up to $1 off or 1000 points used. This makes momma very happy that I can save on gas just for buying the groceries I already do for my family.
I can’t wait to see what this summer brings and what more adventures we can take together.
