This is a sponsored post on behalf of HEB’s 3,2,1 for Summer Fun Campaign.

This summer I have been trying to make lots of funs plans and trying new things out with the kids. They have so much energy and have such a new love for learning that I want to keep that going and not let the summer boredom kick in. This includes reading fun books, visiting places that they may or may not have been to before and even exploring new foods.

Our last zoo trip was a blast. The kids just love going to see the animals and despite the heat here in Texas we had fun. What is cool is that the Houston Zoo even has a splash pad for the kids to play in and beat the heat. Who doesn’t love a splash pad?

We have even went to Old McDonald’s Farm one day and looked at the animals and played on the playgrounds they have. We didn’t last too long since it was so hot, but it is almost like going to the big zoo without having to drive quite so far. They even have a small train for the kids to ride.

Some new books we have been reading are the Animal Adventure series from Barron’s Books. These books have given both the kids and me a new quirky insight into the world of animals and how they might act if they were almost human. Little Man has also been reading a whole series of simple readers to gear up for Kindergarten next fall.

I have been ordering from a local co-op this summer and that has allowed us to try out new fruits and veggies that I might not get otherwise at the grocery store. I am not the best at being adventurous with foods so this has allowed us all to try out new things. My kids don’t really eat many veggies(I try), but they have been willing to try new fruits. We have gotten peaches, cherries, and of course watermelon.

Delicious watermelon popsicles!

This summer has been fabulous with hanging out with my kids, seeing them grow, and watching them try new things and go to new places.

HEB has a new program that launched June 1st to help encourage us to:
Read 3 new books each week
Go to 2 new places
Try 1 new fruit or veggie

It is their 3,2,1 for Summer Fun. What you can do is log your activity of new books you read or your child reads to you, share the new places you have visited and show what new fruit or veggies you all are trying out. When you have completed this, you can submit a form and your child will receive a certificate! Check out the website for full details.

To encourage you to participate HEB and I are giving away a $50 HEB GC!! How cool! To enter simply fill out the rafflecopter form below. Giveaway will end 7/24 at midnight. Good Luck and Happy Entering 🙂

I was sent a GC and travel kit from HEB as compensation for participating in this post. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
