Books are becoming a bigger part of our daily routine. Little Man will be starting Kindergarten in the fall and we are starting to teach him how to read. We are starting with fairly simple books, but am looking forward to more books for him to read and explore. Barron’s Books sent me their Awesome Animal Adventure Club set to read and review with the kids.
The set of four books really takes you on an adventure with each of the four animals: Panda, Meerkat, Raccoon and Penguin. While reading the books, the characters and animals really come to life in the stories. While reading Panda Panic, I could envision a plump panda attempting to do all these silly acts and writing letters all while being a regular panda. The stories are really descriptive and help your imagination come to life with each word that passes.
Some of the wording was hard for Little Man to understand, but I could tell that he was really getting in to the stories while we were reading them. What I like most about the books is that they throw facts about the different animals in to the story several times so that the kids really get to know about the animals more than just hearing about their fun adventures.
What is cool is that the Awesome Animals Wildlife Readers Club has a website where the kids can go and learn more about the animals, play games and learn when there are new books coming out in the series. This will be a great learning tool for the kids as they grow and learn more about reading and animals. I like that it is fun an educational at the same time.
I am going to be scouting out other books from Barron Books to help our home library grow.
