So last week, I finally decided to get my booty up off the couch and finally start working out. Little miss is 20 months now and it is time for mommy to lose some weight. I know I will never be the size I was in college or probably even when I got married 5 years ago, because lets face it pregnancy sure does a number on your body!! I have decided though that I want to get in better shape and hopefully get some energy back.
Last Tuesday, I started out by taking the kids for a walk in the morning. The way out wasn’t much of a workout because little miss decided she wanted to walk. 20 month old legs don’t go very fast!! Nevertheless, I was still sweating thanks to Texas heat and humidity. The way back was a WORKOUT! Both kids were in the single stroller and I thought it would be smart to walk fast. After much panting and sweating, I made it home and almost passed out. It took me about 2 hours to finally cool down and not have a red face.
Wednesday was my first back on the actual treadmill day. I started out walking at my own pace, then decided to do Program 1…..It requires running……Wow….. I made it 15 out of the 30 minutes and I was DONE!
Thursday, I was going to push through and do the whole 30 minute program. I made it through in one piece!! Yahoo!
Friday, I skipped because I raked, swept and watered the back yard…. Now that was a whole different kind of workout!! Holy Moly!
Saturday, I took the kids for a walk then we went downtown for the kids to play. So lots of outside time that day!
Sunday, No workout since hubby was home and I had tons of other things to get done.
Monday, No workout because I had lots and lots of cleaning to do.
Tuesday, Back on the treadmill for the full 30 minute Program 1 and made it 2 miles and didn’t feel like I was going to completely pass out afterwards.
Today, I got on the treadmill again for the full 30 minute Program 1, plus I added in a little incline. I almost didn’t get on today because I had some deliveries to make in the morning, but I am really glad that I did. I have to say I am starting to feel a little better. It is funny, but I have also wanted to started eating healthier. Not that I eat very badly, but with what workout I have done I don’t want things that are heavy or fried or sweets..Go Figure π
One problem I have with working out is now I get more hungry…and right now we can’t afford a higher grocery bill than we already have. Another problem is that I need better clothes to workout in… The whatever random t-shirt I can find and shorts that don’t fit are not cutting it.. Haha (and no I won’t take a picture of it)
I know I am going to get bored pretty quickly with just getting on the treadmill, so I could use some suggestions on other workout at home programs that are free/cheap. I need a variety and am not really sure what is out there. And something that the kids might even like to do with me would be even better. So… If you have any suggestions please let me know π And I could use all the encouragement you can give me to keep going on this journey of a healthier mommy body!!
I totally get the getting bored fast part. But it's important to take it slow and keep it going. And a tip that is free and it might help get the kids involved in your workout might be dancing. Zumba fitness and belly dancing are the best. You can find loads of videos on youtube and on the internet. I'm glad I discovered your blog and I am now following you thanks to Hop Along Friday, and
Hi April,
Good for you on getting a workout started again!! I bought Zumba DVDs from their website and I love them! I prefer to go to an actual Zumba class somewhere but I can't always afford to go and time is an issue so this way I can do it in my home on my own time! Find what works for you and keep at it, you're doing great!!

I'm following you back from Alexa Hop
Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions. I have heard a lot about Zumba and have wanted to try it. I will have to see what I can get on Amazon with my GC's. THanks π
My little man is 11 months now and I have been not working out cause we are still breastfeeding, but as I start to ween him I know I need to start working out again. *ugh* I dread it!!!

I came from the Alexa Blog hop!
http://24-7-365mom.com
I try doing kids yoga (mostly from online sources). My 3 year old thinks it is fun to do with me. So maybe you could try that every other day, then treadmill the others. I really want to get into kickboxing again, it was fun. Step and slide aerobics was fun too. The slide days were killer on my inner thighs but it worked great (not that you can tell now! :)
New follower from the Alexa
Working out is so difficult to do! I find it motivating to read stories like this. I have about 70 pounds I'd like to get off, like yesterday :)

I came from the blop hop:

http://randomthoughtsandotherthingsbybrenda.blogspot.com/2011/07/when-you-know-its-puppy-love.html
I like Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD. Each workout is only 20 minutes long but she moves right along so you will feel it! There are 3 different phases too so you have a couple of different routines.

I don't know what cable service you have if any, but we have Cox and if you go to the On Demand section, they have free workouts you can do for a few days each.

Thanks for joining in on the Blog hop!

I too started my weight loss mission (about two months ago) I'm down about 20lbs with much more work to do, but I feel so much better!

Good luck!

<3 Rita
http://www.bargaindesire.com
