I was invited to blog about Yahoo’s Women Who Shine application on behalf of SocialMoms.com and it got me to thinking who in my life is a woman who shines and makes this world a better place by being in it….
The one name that kept popping up was my good friend Robin.
I have known her for many years and throughout all of those years, I have always seen a “light” come from her that just radiates. She is a wife, mother, teacher and friend. I can see just in the way she treats her friends that she is caring and compassionate. I have no doubt that she has that same heart for the kids that she has taught. She pours her heart and soul into the kids she teaches. She wants to makes sure that they leave her classroom with more knowledge and insight and passion than when they came in.
I loved the other day when she told me about how she tells her kids “You are the best of the best” and just keeps repeating that to them until they believe it. If only we had more teachers out there like her that just weren’t there for the paycheck, but to truly teach our kids what they need to learn and be better people all around and not just in academics.
She is such a blessing to have in my life and I look forward to many years of being friends. I only hope that I can shine half as bright as she does 🙂 It is so refreshing to be around a person like that and it inspires me to want to do more and be more than I ever dreamed possible.
