I remember as a kid I wet the bed a lot. It is not something we talk about much, but many times I felt embarrassed. I didn’t know why it would happen and so I would try to hide it from my parents. My son seems to have the same problem. He doesn’t do it every night and honestly I think it is when he first wakes up because he goes in to such a deep sleep that his body doesn’t tell him to go until it is too late. He also doesn’t soak the bed like would sometimes happen to me, but I still don’t want him to be embarrassed in any way that it happens. He tries to hide the underwear he changes out of at times, but I do my best to reassure him that it is okay and I am not mad.
We limit as much as possible how late he has something to drink, but that doesn’t always help. I want my son to be confident in who he is and never let bed wetting make him feel down. So I had an idea of putting phrases up around his bathroom that showed him how much we loved him and so he could have visual reminders that he is a strong confident boy. You can do this yourself with a few index cards and a marker or I will show you how to make ones that you can print.
I took a few phrases that I knew would cheer him up like: “You Are Special” “You are a Rockstar” “You Are Awesome” “You are Brave” “You Are Strong” “You Are Smart” “You Are Loved” and typed them in a Word Document.
I found a font that I liked that was bold, then put a border around the text so that they would stand out.
I then printed them on card stock so that they would be on thicker paper. If you are putting them in a bathroom then I would suggest laminating them if the room gets steamy from showers.

Place them around the bathroom or room on the walls and around the mirror so that your child will see that he/she is loved. Another piece of the puzzle of instilling confidence and being your child’s cheerleader is getting them the GoodNites TruFit Starter Kit at CVS.

They are underwear with a removable insert to help when your child wets the bed. They are not like wearing a “pull-up” or other night time “diaper” which would cause most kids to be embarrassed. They are real underwear that have a slot for an insert that absorbs liquid. Your child will feel like a normal kid with just a little extra help to give them that boost of confidence that every kid deserves.
