This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. Thanks to M&M’S® for saving my cheesecake. Captain America: The Winter Soldier approved 🙂 #HeroesEatMMs #CollectiveBias Here is the story behind my Captain America Inspired M&M’s Cheesecake. Enjoy!

Captain America M&M's Cheesecake

It’s Tuesday….Planning to have some mommy friends over Wednesday for a dinner get together so we can talk and have a mid week gathering. I had several “parties” that I needed pictures for on the blog, so what better way to get some than by cooking dinner for my friends and we all get to sample and try some products together. Too often we are “so busy” that it is nice to schedule a little time together and hey they don’t have to cook!!

I did a test run on a cheesecake that I wanted to make for the party. Funny back story to this is that I had wanted to “not follow directions” on making the cheesecake so that I could do a tutorial on how to fix an “ugly” cheesecake. The joke was on me at first because the cheesecake turned out looking amazing. No cracks in the top, baked all the way through…. Then the next day comes I go to get it out of the pan and the whole bottom crust of the cheesecake sticks. Like won’t budge. Then the joke was really on me. As I tried to move the cheesecake off the base, it completely fell apart…. You can see the wreckage below 🙂Cheesecake Wreck

So my only tutorial for fixing that cheesecake is to put it in a bowl and eat it up with spoon!! haha Or mush it up completely and turn it in to a cheesecake dip! YUM!

I bought all the ingredients again, including a few extras because if I messed up another cheesecake, I would need something to go on top to cover it up! Walmart has a huge selection of M&M’s. I chose a couple of different varieties since I wasn’t sure where I was going to go for flavor on the cheesecake and had to pick a few of my favorites for “testing” purposes..haha

Walmart M&M's Aisle

While at Walmart, I walked past the video aisles where I saw that Captain America: THE WINTER SOLDIER had just come out on DVD, then by the toy aisle and found a little inspiration and a toy :). I had plenty of red white and blue things at the house, so why not make that the theme of my moms night in. I gathered a few more items to complete our dinner prep and headed home to try out my cheesecake again.

I followed directions and remembered to put the wax paper on the bottom of the pan and guess what??!! It came out so pretty!! This one had a few cracks on the top, but I had plan for that 🙂 M&M’s to the rescue!! I sorted out all of the red and blue.. the rest…the rest I am saving for Fall decorations since there was yellow, brown, and orange left…Yea that is what I am doing with the extras…..Captain America M&M's Cheesecake Tutorial

There are two red rings that go around the Captain America symbol. Easy enough to do. But I needed to figure out how to do the blue and inside white star. Walmart has sheets in the baking section called icing sheets or sugar sheets. You can punch or cut out shapes out of this to use on cakes, cupcakes or cookies. It is fairly thin, doesn’t taste too bad and can spruce up any dessert. It comes in lots of colors and sometimes patterns as well. I used my star cookie cutter to punch out the star shape, laid that in the middle of the cheesecake and placed the blue M&M’s along the outside of the star. Easy peasy.

Now my cheesecake will bring new fun and super hero inspiration to my moms night in party. As you can see, Captain America approved 🙂 Then my daughter stole the toy and took it to school today for Show and Tell… haha

Captain America Cheesecake

Here is the cheesecake recipe I used if you want to make it yourself.. or go the really easy route and buy a frozen one from the store! When I made the cheesecake I omitted the topping that it called for and before I put the crust in, I placed a circle of wax paper sprayed with cooking spray to ensure that my cheesecake wouldn’t stick again 🙂 Also instead of graham cracker, I used pretzels. You could also use Oreos!! YUM!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now out on DVD. Get the movie, buy the M&M’s, make the Captain America Inspired M&M’s Cheesecake, and invite your friends over for a mid week get together. Here is a coupon for you to make it an even better deal!

Looking at this while I’m not eating sugar is really hard. I’d love any cheesecake…even an ugly one! 🙂

I am in the same boat!! Trying to cut out sugar while making recipes with them is hard not to want to taste test everything 🙂
