At the beginning of the year, I joined a group to do 13 races in 2013!
For at least one of my races this year, I wanted to do a color run… What is a color run? Well it is usually a 5K race(3.1 miles) where there are color stations and you are bombarded with blasts of color as you go along the course. The colors is not paint, but food grade cornstarch that is colored. It sounds weird, but I have to tell you it was a blast to get messy and colorful and just let all my “everything needs to be clean” feelings out the window!
I was joined by the fabulous Alba of Independent Mami and Haley of Love Life Family…and Then Some. If you haven’t read their blogs, then you should! Well, after you read this one first 🙂
Alba and I took off quickly at the start, but Haley had her wonderful son Jackson with her so she walked most of it. There were 4 color stations along the route. I took my phone with me so that I could take pictures along the way, but had to cover it under my shirt when we ran through the color stations. I was blasted on the very first one and had blue and purple all over my face. One of the people shot straight at my face which wasn’t exactly nice… The rest of the stations were a little better. We did have a hill to climb at the beginning and the end, but overall it was a good run and I actually beat my own PR and did 3 miles in 30 minutes!!
At the end of the race they did color bombs every 10-15 minutes. Everyone was given a packet of color and at countdown threw it up in the air(as if we weren’t covered in enough color already)! It was so much fun!! Hard to breathe in but a blast.
I have two more races this month before I have my first half marathon on March 2nd!! If you ever get a chance to do one of the color runs, I highly recommend it. And you don’t have to run if you don’t want to 🙂
yuck!!!
It was alot of fun!!
