If your kids are anything like mine they love to snack and did so at an early age. Especially during the summer, they seem to be bottomless pits! So when my nieces and nephews come over I am prepared with snacks that are more on their level like the Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™. But what do you do with all of those leftover containers? How about turn them into a DIY Snack Container Travel Coloring Kits. I found a way to recycle the containers into portable travel coloring kits that hold strips of paper and crayons. These are perfect for heading out of town on a trip or even to take along to the doctor’s office.
How to make DIY Snack Container Travel Coloring Kits:
The Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™ containers are super light, short cylinders that are perfect little hands to carry. After your kids have eaten all of the snacks inside, simply wipe the container with damp cloth. You might need to use Windex or some other spray especially for the white cheddar and broccoli flavored Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™ container. For the outside of the container, you can just cut a strip of white or construction paper and tape to the outside. The kids can color their own container and write their name so that there is no fighting over who gets what travel coloring kits.
For the inside of the DIY Snack Container Travel Coloring Kits, you can get either mini markers or just crayons to keep inside. You can then put either strips on paper or even some post-it notes would fit nicely. You could also make these containers a travel case for small toys for your kids to play in the car with as well. I like to give them to my niece, since she is too young for coloring, and let her bang away with a spoon to make it like a drum. Really sometimes the most simple of toys are the most fun for kids.
There are so many ways that you can recycle the Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™ snack containers: storage for crayons, small toy container, and even musical instruments.
I was able to pick up both flavors of the Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™ at my local Kroger in the baby food section. They have either Original or White Cheddar and Broccoli. I have snacks on hand for when my sister comes to visit with her kids and I can then use the containers for something useful.
What a great idea! My son isn’t quite coloring yet, but I never thought about upcycling these containers! Now I want to figure something out to do with mine-thanks for sharing!
