Thank you to Xfinity for sponsoring this post and having me out for a lunch and learn at one of the local Houston stores!
There are so many providers out there that offer cable, satellite, home phone, and more. It is hard to know who to go with, what they offer, and how it will best suit your family’s needs. I was able to take a tour of one of the updated Xfinity stores here in Houston to learn just what can you get with Comcast Xfinity. So I wanted to share with you Xfinity: What You Need to Know. Now as with every provider of these kind of services, you have to first check to see if it is available in your area.
Xfinity: What you need to know
- When it comes to watching tv, Xfinity X1 has you covered. One of my favorite little tricks was the voice remote. All you have to do is speak into the remote what channel you want to watch and X1 will change the channel for you. The kid zone is also a huge winning factor. You can easily set controls so that your kids aren’t able to watch shows or movies over a certain rating. In conjunction with the Kid Zone is Common Sense Media with integrated ratings and reviews to help us as parents determine just what is appropriate for our kids to watch. With the integrated apps like Facebook, Netflix, and Pandora you can listen to your favorite music or scroll through your feed on the big screen.
- Another facet of Xfinity is Home. Home is a total home security and automation system so that your home can be a smart home. Security is big with me. I want to make sure my home is secure and being monitored whether I am there or not. Xfinity Home has 24/7 monitoring with access at home with a touchscreen console or through an app on your phone. I love that the Nest I have installed will even work with the system so that I can control everything all in one place. The Home system can even control your lights, close your garage door, and have live video monitoring.
- Now with all the different services and features that Xfinity offers, you can bet that they have a lot of apps that help you run your new smart world. Xfinity TV to control your tv right from your phone or even watch TV from your phone. Xfinity Home to monitor your home security. Xfinity Share is similar to facetime where you can livestream and send photos to your TV or other customers who also have Xfinity. Xfinity Wi-fi will show available hotpsots in the area. And last but not least, Xfinity My Account so that you can pay your bill, internet, and appointments all from your app. There are times that you just don’t want to have to pull out your computer and with all of the Xfinity apps you won’t have to do that.
When you walk into one of the newly renovated Xfinity stores, 7 of the 12 in Houston have been, you are immediately greeted and your name is put into their queuing system. This means that you don’t have to stand there in a line until it is your turn. You can head to one of the open iPads and learn more about the Xfinity apps and how they all work. They also have large flat screen tv’s on hand so that you can also see how X1 works and ask questions. The staff at the Xfinitys Stores are highly knowledgeable of their products and can help you choose the right ones for your family. Of course bundling your services will always save you money since they often have special offers. Xfinity is like a one stop shop for a lot of your smart home needs.
One service that I would also like to share with you is one that makes internet affordable for low income families. You can head to InternetEssentials.com and take a look at the elegibilty requirements for being able to sign up for internet at just $9.95 month plus tax. So many things are done online now even with schools, so having internet is almost a necessity now. If you qualify for this program, you can also look into getting an affordable computer as well for $149.99. What an amazing service so that those in low income households can not get behind when it comes to technology.
What an insightful experience at the Xfinity store to learn about their products. Thanks so much for having me out and sponsoring this post. I am being compensated for this post, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. Check to see if Xfinity is in your area.
