We love doing family movie nights on Fridays when my husband has to work a double. It gives us time to just sit and hang out since really where am I going to go with two kids on a Friday? The last week we did a family movie night PEANUTS Style. The PEANUTS Movie just came out on DVD so we headed over to my parents house to have a night full of everything PEANUTS related!
To start the night while we waited for my dad to get home, we played a little game of UNO with our favorite PEANUTS characters printed on the cards. UNO is a fave game in our house since it teaches the kids number and color association. Even my 6 year old can play which makes her happy. Since games never seem to last too long with kids we quickly went on to play with the various character toys that were featured as Happy Meal toys.
Watching the movie would not be complete with out some Charlie Brown shirts and Aviator Caps. Even my dad had his own shirt in his collection. See we have grown up loving Charlie Brown and all of the PEANUTS characters. It is a goofy kind of humor that a lot of times we can all relate to and that Snoopy is just too much sometimes. Throughout the movie, Snoopy goes after his nemesis Red Baron in a quest to save his love Fifi taking him on all sorts of adventures. I loved the way they had him in his imagination then break back to how we was playing it out in “real life”.
My kids could not take their eyes off the screen the whole movie. What is good about these types of movies is that the story is constantly changing and it isn’t just about one theme. It keeps you interested and wondering what they are going to do next. Our family movie night was a huge success for the kids and adults. I can’t wait to turn the movie on again and again. It is so fun to see these classic characters brought into the new age of digital cartoons. I think it will be a huge hit with your family!!
