The first birthday party for your little one is so much fun to plan. And the best part about it is letting them dig in to their first cake! We went with a simple cupcake for our kids. At first they were not so sure about it, but that first taste of frosting usually gets them to dig right in.
Now I have a little confession. I tried to make “healthier” cupcakes for my sons first birthday and I will admit they were not that great. Not really a flavor combination that most kids would like so Little Man didn’t dig right in to his like I would have liked him to…haha Mommy has since improved on her cupcake making skills 🙂
Little Miss was a little unsure about her first cupcake too. We have since discovered she is just an icing kind of girl.
Betty Crocker has some fun ideas on their website for different shapes and designs for smash cakes for first birthday parties. I sure could have used this a few years ago so I could have gotten a little more creative with my own kids smash cakes. I think my favorite is probably the Polka Dot one. I am obsessed with polka dots 🙂 Here is also a step by step of how to make a number one smash cake!
