I was sent Vega Sport Endurance Gel to test out for this review on behalf of Fitfluential. All thoughts are my own. #FuelYourBetter
As you can see from my week 1 marathon training recap, I am just getting back in to running so that I can run a full marathon in less that 6 months. Ever since my surgery and cancer treatment I have had a hard time finding the fuels that I need to give me the energy I need while at the same time being nice to my tummy. Most of the gels and sport beans are so sweet that I just can’t take them anymore, so I have been on a hunt to find a product that works.
As with other products out there I was a little skeptical at first just how my body would react to it. The first time I tried it out, I took the Vega Sport Endurance Gel just before my workout with my personal trainer. I have been struggling with my workouts lately because the heat just zaps my energy and I don’t feel like I can give it all that I have. After using the gel, I was surprised how well my workout flowed and the energy was sustained throughout. Most gels give you that bad rush of energy and crash effect, but the Vega Sport Endurance Gel did not.
Being that it is a plant based gel and unlike most of the other ones on the market really sets it apart. The gel features whole food ingredients and no high fructose corn syrup. It is the only gel that contains coconut oil to provide instant, non-carbohydrate energy. And with an electrolyte blend to help replenish the body, it is a much better choice.
I will say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the raspberry flavor, so the orange might be better suited for me. I tend to like orange flavored things more anyways. It is not your typical “gel” so the texture takes a bit to get used to eating.
I think this will wind up being a good choice for me to use on my long runs. It isn’t something that will tear up my stomach on a run and with better for you ingredients, I don’t feel as guilty using it on a regular basis.
