If you didn’t see my announcement on Facebook or Twitter several weeks ago, I put my name in for the lottery of the Chevron Houston Marathon. Now I did this thinking that they most likely would not choose me since 1- I have never run a marathon and 2- I am not very fast… Well guess what??!! I was chosen..

I got the email and just about fainted. Now I did have a goal to complete one marathon… in a couple of years… when both kids were in school full time…. Not really within the next 6 months…. But ready or not here we go.

Now I haven’t run much since my last half marathon, so to say I am out of shape is an understatement. I did start working with a personal trainer this summer so she has helped with my muscle development and getting my core strengthened. But I haven’t really been doing any cardio because I hate doing it when it is hot. I don’t do well getting hot. But I have got to start somewhere because I have 6 months now to get ready for this marathon… 26.2 miles….

I have walked a couple of miles here and there on the treadmill, but not much as far as running yet. Especially this last week, my energy levels have been rather low so it is all I can do to just get through the day. I did have my two one hour workouts with my trainer, so I am glad that I did that. I had plans to walk/run a couple of other days, but it just didn’t happen.

An extra workout of steam cleaning my whole van in the middle of the day in Texas. Great way to sweat it out!!

My plan for next week is two days with my trainer, and at least two days on either the treadmill or an outside run. Both kids will be at VBS in the mornings, so that may give me the boost I need to get outside and do something. It will most likely only be a walk because it is too darn hot in Texas right now even in the mornings.

My goal is to update every week with my training to help keep me accountable and so you can see my progress to the big finale in January!!
