Having several friends that are teachers, I have heard them time and again tell me how they are having to use their own money to buy supplies for their classroom. They just don’t get enough through the school systems to cover even some of the essentials that they need and they want to make sure that the kids they are teaching are getting the most they can out of the classroom. And teachers sure aren’t paid enough most of the time to really be able to afford to buy so many supplies out of their own pocket.
Great Clips wants to change that. They have partnered with AdoptaClassroom.org to help teachers all over the country. Just look at the video of two teachers that they have already helped. Then download their check in app. For every download, they will donate up to $20,000 to help teachers get the needed supplies for their classrooms so that they can focus on teaching the kids and not where they will find the money to get their supplies for the year. (Now until Spetember 5, 2014)
We can do so much as a community to really help our teachers out. One thing that our school did was on teacher appreciation week, instead of gifts she may not really need, we sent school supplies to help replenish her classroom. I also like to send “gift” bundles throughout the year of supplies that I pick up either at the beginning of the year when things are on super sale, or get a few things when I go out to the store. Ask your child’s teachers what they really need. You never know how much it will make their day knowing that you care.
What is even cooler is that you can possibly win your school supply list(up to $100) by uploading it to their contest. And when you do that you will receive a $2 off coupon for your next haircut.
