I was given a free race entry in exchange for this post, and also a free sample of EnergyBits. All thoughts are my own.
Just like my last couple of half marathons, I didn’t really train and it was a very last minute thing that I was even going to run it. But hey a girl can’t pass up a free race entry and I REALLY wanted to do the Biggest Loser Run/Walk since I have watched almost every season of Biggest Loser. I like seeing how people really can change their lives if they put their all into it and have the desire to change.

Since the race was almost two hours from me, I decided to get a hotel room so I didn’t have to wake up insanely early. I will say that Beaumont left a bad impression on me. Hotel didn’t have my reservation(but they did find me a room for a major discount so props for that), tried going out to eat only to be ignored by the waitstaff so got fast food which I never eat and most isn’t gluten free, and just not the funnest place to visit.. Sorry Beaumont.
I ate what I could and did bring some food with me, but was so tired that I just quickly ate a little, took a hot shower and went to bed. Oh and just FYI… don’t start with a new trainer two days before a long race and let her convince you to do legs so that you are so sore before the race that you can barely walk…. Just FYI….
Needless to say I was pretty sore and tired that morning. I tried out a new pre race fuel of EnergyBits. You swallow 30 of these little algeae pills to give you sustained energy that won’t tear up your stomach like most of the jelly beans and chews do. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they helped me the first part of my race. It was a little hard to swallow them since they do have a pretty strong taste. I had a second pack to try, but wasn’t able to get them down while I was running though I could have used to energy burst from them. I liked that they give you natural energy WITHOUT caffeine or other crazy chemicals. If you are like me and those other energy things tear up your tummy, then you definitely need to give EnergyBits a try!
This was a tough tough race. I tried to run, but my legs hurt of so bad. I wound up power walking most of the race and finished at just at 3 hours. The best part of the race was meeting Bobbie Saleem from Season 15. I saw him before, during, and after the race. He was a great encouragement and oh so nice! Vinny from Season 12 was also there as well as Dan and Jackie Evans from Season 5. They are definitely inspirations for all they have accomplished in their weight loss journey.
Thanks again Biggest Loser Run/Walk Series for the great race. There are many more all over the country that you can sign up for, so check their website and see if one is coming near you soon.
