I am officially back in to running race season. The Houston Marathon is going to be here before I know it and races help motivate me to me to go after my goal. What also helps me go after my goal is my little man. I signed up my son to run with me. The Houston Texans Running of the Bulls 5K took us on a 5k course around NRG stadium where the Houston Texans football team plays.
I have to say that it was rather fun to run with my son, but also really tiring at the same time. haha He is fast and the boy loves to run. I did my best to keep up with him and to keep him from running in to every person since he likes to zigzag while he runs and he is not that great at paying attention. But sometimes he was just too much and we had to walk. This was also my first run in quite awhile. I admit I have not really been training. I am finding all kinds of excuses not to run, but I think this is my start to get going. In fact I did a 10K the week after this one that I will tell you about too.
Best part of the race was that we actually got to run in to the stadium on a Sunday when the Texans were away. So cool to see it from another view of what they players see each week. Little man seemed to have a blast. He was so happy to get the pizza, water, and snacks after the race was over. I think we finished in about 40ish minutes, but I forgot to turn my app off so it kept going while we were in line for food.
This was a great first run and I am looking at other 5K’s that Dylan can do with me. It is mommy son time that helps connect us and I love that. I think we are going to be doing a Color Run in a few weeks.
