Thanksgiving has come and gone and I am so ready to get the holiday Christmas season started. I am bummed that I don’t have my Christmas decorations up yet, but I finally started on them today! I just love the joy that comes this time of year with seeing all the decorations and especially the lights. The lights have to be my favorite part of Christmas decorating.

Our first opportunity to see the lights was thanks to the Houston Zoo and TXU Energy!! We love going to the zoo as a family and the kids just love when we can go see all the animals. They were a little confused when we said we were going up to the zoo so late at night. You always wonder what the zoo is like at night and if they have the animals out or not.

We were greeted with fun lights hanging at the front entrance as well as an ode to TXU 🙂

There were not really any animals out of course since it was dark and probably late for them, but it was great to be able to walk around on a sort of guided tour throughout the zoo while seeing the different light attractions.

The kids really loved the zebra!
Overall we were impressed with the different themes that they had and the kids had a blast oohing and ahhing at all the lights. It was a great start to the holiday season and well worth the trip. Thanks to TXU Energy for sending me and my family down to see the lights. And if you have a little extra $$ to spare, I hope that you will visit http://www.houstonzoo.org/grub and help offset some of the food costs that the zoo takes on each year. TXU will also be matching donations up to $50,000!!!
The Zoo Lights will be running 6pm-10pm each night (except Dec24th) until January 5th. I hope you will find time to make it out there and enjoy the lights!!
