Well I have been a bit bad about writing about my races for the last two months, so I will start with my races last weekend then update you on the other ones hopefully throughout the next week or so. I start with last weekend because I am kinda proud of myself for doing two races in one weekend. I participated in the ABB 5K which is just the day before the big Chevron/Aramco Marathon and Half Marathon.

If you remember from a while back I was going to do the full marathon, but I had to back out because I just couldn’t put in the time needed to train for it. I was volunteering at my kid’s school more and just general life was busy. It was enough to be able to go out and do half marathons with little training, but I knew I couldn’t pull off a full marathon without proper training. Maybe next year..maybe.

I saw that there was going to be a 5K the day before the big race and decided to sign up for it so that it would loosen my legs a bit before the big day. It wound up almost being a big disaster. My first few steps out my ankle rolled a bit and hurt, but quickly worked itself out. I wasn’t really feeling this race though. Funny thing is that it usually takes me 3-4 miles to get into a race so only doing 3.1 miles my legs just weren’t happy. I had also had a cold for over two weeks prior and hadn’t been eating well so my energy level was pretty low.IMG_1599.JPG

Not trying to make excuses, but just sharing why I know it wasn’t my best race. My official time was 37:58. Better than I have been doing, but I was drained. I was a little worried about how my race the next day would go since I was so incredibly tired after this one. So the rest of the day, I tried to hydrate myself as much as I could. I was sent some Drip Drop to try out and I really think it helped me prepare for my half marathon the next day.

Drip Drop is an electrolyte powder that you can add to water to help re-hydrate your body before, during or after exercise. It is a hydration solution that combines medical standards with great taste. I tend to sweat salt when I run. It is literally caked on me after a long run. Kinda gross, but I have been experimenting with electrolyte beverages and Drip Drop is one of my tops. I can’t stand ones that are just sugar laden. With Drip Drop I feel like I recover faster and I am back to my regular self more quickly than just drinking water.I love that my kids can use it as well.

With soccer starting up again soon, I will be putting this in their water bottles than just plain water. So much better for them than some of the other drinks they get offered after their games. So will you Hydrate with Drip Drop?
