Hysterectomy and Beyond- Bladder Leakage #Underwareness

If you have been reading my blog for any time you know that almost two years ago now I had cervical cancer and underwent a hysterectomy to remove all my lady parts. It was quite a different recovery process than I had even from when I gave birth to my kids. With pregnancy you are almost guaranteed to have leakage from your bladder no matter what age you are. With a hysterectomy at 32 I never expected that I  would have the side effects that I did.

Of course my doctor explained that I might have problems but you really never know what your body will do and how it will respond to a surgery like that and also the radiation to that area. You never think at such a young age that you will lose control of our bladder like I experienced when I first had surgery. You think in your head…Don’t sneeze.. Don’t couch too hard… Don’t drink too many liquids.

My thing is that I didn’t want to have to wear pads and such that were so bulky and not comfortable. If only I had seen a fabulous product from Depend called Silhouette Active Fit. These are pads that are a part of an underwear like package that you can wear and not be embarrassed by. After all no one should be ashamed by a little bladder leakage not matter what age you are and Depends wants to help you feel comfortable and protected.

I have been able to strengthen my bladder and the surrounding muscles by working out and my running, but I know there may come a day when those muscles loosen again and I know now that I can be protected and not worry about the pad falling out of my underwear.
