While most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media, according to a new study by Intel and Toluna.
That’s the reason why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to 50 Best Buy stores in major markets across the U.S. The Intel Technology Experience lets customers – from tech enthusiasts to technophobes – play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. For many, this is the first opportunity to see, touch, and play with exciting new technologies they have only heard about.
The area will be staffed by specially trained Best Buy Blue Shirts to answer questions and help customers make the most of each area within the experience. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences.
It is more than just about Intel technology inside various computers and tablets for personal use. The Intel processor that is used inside so many things can change the way we work, play, and interact with the world around us. As you walk in to the Intel Experience, there are several stations where you can see how the Intel processors inside can help with 3D printing, off-roading on Mars, or dropping a new beat with Ne-yo.
The off-roading on Mars was by far the most fun. There are tablets set up so that you take a rover around Mars to do missions and earn coins and have a virtual experience like you are on Mars without ever leaving Earth. You feel as though you are really there and able to move around the planet.
I was blown away by the 3D printing. It is beyond my comprehension how there is technology out there that can print things in 3D form. It can take hours for just small projects, so to know that they also use it for things as big as cars is amazing. They had robots that could be customized with different colors and shapes, then the printer goes to work. It takes 6 hours to create the little robots in the picture below. WOW! I have a hard time remembering my name, much less to come up with technology that can do things that once only humans could do and create.
If you love music, then you can head over and drop some beats with Ne-yo. Become the DJ that you always thought you could be and get the party moving. We weren’t able to test this out when we went in, but I am sure it would have been cool to see how musically inclined we are(or not..haha).
Of course there were plenty of laptops and tablets that you can explore and check out all the features on as well. You don’t have to spend tons of money to get new and fast technology. They had an Acer A1 tablet running android powered by an Atom processor was only $129 and was really nice.
I hope you will go check out the new Intel Experience near you and get to play with the new technology that is out there powered by Intel and broaden your horizons on what technology is capable of in this day and age.
