This time of year our kids often think about what gifts they are getting this year. I want them to learn about giving back to others and I am able to do that in a simple way with toys they have and already love. LEGO has a new campaign this year called Build to Give. You can visit your local LEGO store where you can make an ornament and then share about it on social media from now until December 13th. Each time the hashtag #BuildToGive is used, LEGO will be donating a LEGO brick set to a child in need.
If you can’t make it into a store, use the LEGO bricks you may already own to make any kind of ornament to share. You can also visit https://www.lego.com/en-us/campaigns/build-to-give for instructions on how to make a variety of ornaments. We wheeled out my son’s LEGO stash and a set we were sent to make our own ornaments. You can use the time you spend making an ornament to sit and teach your kids about giving back.
We should all look for little ways like this to give back with just a simple act and sharing. Thank you LEGO for helping me and my family remember that we should do what we can for others this holiday season and really everyday of life. I love that I can share this with my kids and they can learn early that it isn’t all about them. Simple acts can have a big impact.
