This is a sponsored post on behalf of Pop Secret Popcorn, but all thoughts are my own.
I had grand plans for our playdate today since it was going to be rainy. After all I had 5 kids to entertain by myself, so we might as well have a fun indoors food-o-rama themed playdate. It was going to involve popcorn, cupcakes, and watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2! Oh and some fun friends π Thanks Clumsy Crafter for having meetings so I could entertain your kiddos.
The only problem with playdates is that you can get so distracted by kids running here, there, and everywhere playing, screaming, and overall lots of things that can distract you from making sure the popcorn and cupcakes don’t burn… On many many occasions I have burnt the popcorn…Shhhh don’t tell my kids.
Then there is that smell…the burnt popcorn smell…..it can totally ruin your playdate and it lingers for days…. So here are some tips for making a perfectly popped playdate π
1. Find an easy theme. Food is always an easy one. I went simple with cupcakes and popcorn and a food themed movie.
2. Download the Pop Secret Perfect Pop App. This cool app listens to your microwave and tells you when to stop so that your popcorn is not burnt. I tried it out on three different bags and they came out just right every time. Really I was impressed. The popcorn setting on my microwave was about 12-18 seconds too long. Almost all of the kernels were popped in the three bags on not one single burnt one…
3. Just have fun and enjoy your friends. Things don’t have to be overly complicated. A few snacks, good movie, and just some quality time.
So what are you ideas for havign a perfectly popped playdate? What themes have you done plydates around? Have you ever burnt the popcorn? Check out the perfect pop app so you won’t burn it again π
