Today I get to show you how to make portable snack boats, the perfect party food in this post sponsored by Old El Paso. It will be sure to make you hungry.

When it comes to hosting a party, you want to look at making foods that are easily carried and easily eaten. Whether it is a Friday night hanging out or watching sports on Sunday, portable snack boats are your answer to having easy to eat food for all of your guests. Old El Paso has come out with some epically awesome tortilla boats that you can fill with just about anything and serve to your guests. So that got me to thinking of just what would I prepare for them.

A staple at most parties has to be dips. In the South 7 layer dip is by far the one that I see at almost every party. You literally just layer all of your favorite taco toppings in a bowl and dive in with your chips, but what if it could be made in smaller portions and portable? Kind of like having your own personal dip bowl AND you wouldn’t have to worry about double dipping because it was made just for you!! Portable snack boats are THE perfect party food.

If you don’t want to pre-assemble the portable snack boats then you could simply have all the ingredients in festive bowls on the table for each person to customize their own 7 layer dip.

ingredients for 7 layer dip

Here is what I put out for my Portable Snack Boats, 7 layer dip:

  • Old El Paso tortilla bowls in flour and whole wheat
  • Black Beans
  • Sour cream with taco seasoning
  • Shredded Cheddar
  • Guacamole
  • Sliced olives
  • Shredded Chicken
  • Salsa

Each person gets to put exactly what they want to make their own dip. Hey and a little less work for you not having to assemble them all. Another idea for the portable snack bowls is make a spinach artichoke dip boat. Use your favorite recipe for hot artichoke spinach dip, spoon into the Old El Paso tortilla bowl and bake until bubbly. As a sweet treat, set out cut up fruit, chocolate chips, coconut, nuts, and a fruit dipping sauce. Again everyone can customize their own. They can eat right out of the boat with a fork then finish off by eating the tortilla boat. I think this will change the way that I do parties from here on out.perfect party food- fruit boats

Tell me this won’t be fun at your next gameday party?! You can get all the ingredients right at your local Walmart. While you are there check out the other varieties of taco shells and kits that Old El Paso has to offer. Make it a meal or portable snack boats. I can’t wait to see what you come up with to serve in your soft tortilla boats.
