The older that my kids get the more fun it seems to be going on road trips. No more having to take 1000 things for them. We pack the basics of clothes, food, and a few lovies or toys to get them through until we get home. We can go for a day or two or a whole week and packing for the trip is about the same. I think the most essential thing when it comes to taking kids on road trips is making sure they have their favorite drinks and snacks so that you aren’t spending tons of money on stuff they may or may not eat when you are on the road. Road trip snack packing for kids doesn’t have to be difficult, you just need to have the essentials.

My kids are moderately picky as they like their favorites of PB&J, chicken fingers, and hot dogs. Sometimes when you travel though you can’t always find their favorites so the best thing to do is pack them. I almost always pack a loaf of bread, some PB, chips, fruit, drinks like Fruit Shoot®, and snack bars. I want to share with you a little tip that I use for road trip snack packing for kids and adults that will make your life just a little less hectic when you are out on the road.

The biggest thing is keeping the food items that you want cold, to stay cold. In order to cut down on having to have ice or even ice packets what I do is to freeze juice bottles like Fruit Shoot®. They are in a plastic bottles and are perfect for freezing. For one it ensures that the drinks will be cold and when you pack it in the cooler, it can keep everything else cold without having to have ice. One less thing to have to think about.

How I do Road Trip Snack Packing:

For our trip this weekend I placed one 6 pack of Fruit Shoot® in the bottom of my Thirty-One picnic thermal. This baby holds lots!! Then I put in the fruit and lunch meats that I wanted to take with us. I put more frozen Fruit Shoot® bottles on top so that they were two layers of cold. As the juice bottles warmed a bit the kids had something to drink that was cold and refreshing for our trip. I didn’t have to pay $5 for just one drink so it saved me time and money.

I love the Fruit Shoot® juice bottles because comes in a variety of regular and no sugar added flavors – with 20 calories or less and three grams of sugar including:

• Apple (no added sugar)
• Berry Burst (regular and no added sugar)
• Orange (regular and no added sugar)

• Wild Berry Grape (no added sugar)

Fruit Shoot® is made with real fruit juice from concentrate. It is also free of artificial flavors and high fructose corn syrup, so moms can feel good about buying it for their family. Plus it comes with a re-sealable cap, so you don’t have to deal with any messes. You can just let your kids be kids.Taking my kids on road trips is another fun way that we can connect and they really learn and grow while we explore new places. There is nothing quite like a hands on experience to help them soak in knowledge. I just have to make sure my road trip snack packing on point so that I can keep them happy, fed, and hydrated. Check out all the flavors and info on Fruit Shoot and follow them on Facebook.
