This is going to be my year… It started with getting the motivation last year from a local group where I live. They were putting a group together to train to run a half marathon. I have never even remotely run anywhere near that long of a distance.

So for the past month I have started getting on the treadmill and doing my best to just run. I went and got a nice pair of expensive running shoes (which I took back because they hurt my feet and got some for 1/3 the price and they are fabulous, goes to show you expensive is not always better) and now with my new-new running shoes I am running almost every day and loving it.

I don’t always want to get on, but when I do..I am so happy that I have. I feel better and know that I am slowly making myself stronger. I am slowly going longer distances and also slowly getting faster. I mostly run on the treadmill since I have two kids and watch 2 more during the week so I can’t just go run outside whenever I please, but it works for now.

I have to say I was pretty proud of myself for going out for 2 miles the day of Christmas in 30 degree weather. It is Texas.. I have lived here my whole life and am sure not used to temps that low, let alone trying to go out and run in it!!

So what are my goals for this year? I have signed up for a couple of groups and will be challenging myself to 13 races in 2013!!! I will be doing a combo of real(outside with other people) races and virtual (by myself inside or out) races. I am excited to find some races. Only problem will be the cost of them. So if you would like to sponsor me in my races just reach out to me by email and I can go over sponsorship levels. april(dot)ockerman@yahoo.com

Even though we are only a couple of days in to the new year, I have already knocked 2 races off my list. Resolution Run 5K on 1/1 and 5bythe5th- 5K or 5 miles to be completed by the 5th of each month. Here are my results from those..

Done in 38:10

Done in 65 minutes even!
I am going to make a race page where I will update what races I have signed up for by month and then go back and post my finish times.
I can’t wait to see what this year holds and get a grand total of miles run!!! I could use some cheerleaders to keep me going and if you know of any good races I should sign up for, let me know 🙂
