The holiday season is upon us in full force now. We just had Halloween and I am sure that your pantries are loaded with sweet treats from your kid’s baskets. Now as we start thinking about Thanksgiving, I wanted to share another fun sweet treat that your kids can help you make. These Simple Chocolate Acorn Treats are put together with a few ingredients that are perfect for those little hands to put together.
I used the mini Nutter Butters for this, but you could also use mini Vanilla Wafers or mini Golden Oreos for if you want to avoid the peanut butter cookies. This recipe can make as little or as many as you want. They go together so fast. We are going to do a luncheon for the teachers/staff at our school just before the Thanksgiving break and I am going to set a bowl of these out. They add decor and a treat all in one. You could even use them on your Thanksgiving tablescape. Just watch those little hands that might sneak a few before dinner!!

To make the Simple Chocolate Acorn Treats:

1. Unwrap the Hershey Kisses.
2. Place a dab of black decorator’s icing on the flat bottom surface of the Hershey Kiss.
3. Firmly place a mini cookie on top of the icing.
4. Holding the cookie topped kiss from its pointy end, place another small dab of icing
on the middle of the top of the cookie.
5. Firmly press a chocolate chip onto the dab of icing on top of the cookie.
6. Place the prepared candy acorns on a tray, and place in the freezer for a few minutes
so the icing can harden and set.
How cute are these!! I love that it is such a simple recipe, but the kids will love making them and later eating them!!
You can also use a small amount of melted chocolate bark to “glue” these together as well if you happen to live somewhere warm (like Texas) and it is hot and humid often at Thanksgiving. I would keep them in the fridge if you are using just the frosting “glue” until just before you are ready to display/serve in case your house is warm.
