We travel on occasion with my kid’s soccer teams for tournaments and the gear and stuff we have to take along with us is huge. From water to snacks to balls and more, we can pack down a vehicle so quickly for tournaments. With the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, I get the space I need for the kids and their gear as well as a fuel efficient vehicle to help save money on those costly tournament weekends.
Have Soccer Balls Will Travel
Our most recent tournament to Austin was about a three hour drive for us. Nothing too long as to bore the kids and long enough to feel like a mini weekend escape. This Toyota Highlander Hybrid had a third row option which was perfect to use when we had unloaded most of the gear and were just going out to dinner with other teammates. We could consolidate vehicles and save a bit on gas. Tournament weekends can get expensive between hotel costs, tournament fees, and needing extra food and drinks for the players and families. With the third row option up, there isn’t as much cargo room so plan ahead if you have a big family to add on a luggage rack or other ways to get your bags there besides inside the vehicle. With just the myself and the kids, we could put the third row down and the wagon, suitcases, cooler, and everything else fit just perfectly with a little luggage jenga!
Save a Little Time and Gas $$
By going with a hybrid, you will save a little time and gas $$ with a more efficient vehicle. We only had to stop once for gas for our trip there and back home. The V6 engine still gives you plenty of power without feeling like you are being held back while the SUV tries to save on gas consumption. There are three modes that you can put the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in for more Eco, Sport, and Regular driving. The average MPG for this vehicle is 28 combined.
A Little Storage Here, A Little Storage There
One of my favorite places for storage in the Highlander is along the dashboard. Toyota carved out this pocket so that you can put things like your keys, phone, other small things so that they can be reached, but not sliding all over the place. Slip it in and know that oh there is my phone, not digging through your purse or on the floorboard somewhere. I also like the center console storage as it has two ways to open it. If you just need a quick reach in, go for the bottom sliding door, or if you need it fully opened then slide both doors back. The curved top makes for a comfortable armrest as well. The kids even had a little pocket of storage for items they may be charging in the backseat as well as their own A/C controls.

This is a great family vehicle as it can adapt to just 4 riders or up to 6 if needed. It is functional, versatile, and the hybrid system can help you save a little money here and there. Soccer Mom Life approved.
