Each year my kids get older, I feel that we need to start more and more traditions as a family. I want them to grow up remembering certain things that we did each year during certain times of year. The holidays can be so stressful, but I really think that we need to step back sometimes and focus on our family by creating memories and quality time together.
We just had Thanksgiving at my house for the first time. I was so nervous that I wanted all the food and house to be great. We repainted our dining room chairs and I wanted to get new seat cushions, but when you have kiddos around it is inevitable that they will make a mess on the chairs. To be able to keep the stained cushion, but up the elegance factor having some Everyday Elegance chair covers around is a great alternative. They come in 5 colors to go with just about any decor and then when your guests leave, you can go back to the stained ones and no one will know the difference. One less thing to stress about!
One tradition that I am going to be starting this year is making a special breakfast for my family to start the day off on a good note. Miffy’s Marvelous Muffin Mix is a good choice for a healthy hearty breakfast that can give you lots of energy to open all those presents or cook food all day! With flavors like Apple Spice or Pumpkin Spice it will get you in the cherry holiday mood.
Another tradition that I like is to make homemade gifts for my family and friends. It shows that you really put some time and thought into the gift. I like to do a mix of homemade chocolates, Chex Mix and also put in a few special candies like Deo Perfume Candy. When people see that you put those special touches and unique items in their gift, it really shows that you care.
One more tradition that I am going to start this year is having a fun night on Christmas Eve for this kids. I am going to get a new pair of PJ’s for us all to wear, pop some popcorn and watch Polar Express! I absolutely love that movie and the kids do as well.
However you celebrate or whatever you do to make it special, just remember your family and the real reason for the holiday seasons!
