As some of you may have seen on my social media channels, I recently attended Babypalooza and Sweet Suite 2018 in NYC. New York has a little piece of my heart and I just love going back there to attend these two events. Imagine a room filled with loads of the latest toys and games, and being able to touch some that aren’t even in stores yet. That is what Sweet Suite is all about. It is an insiders look at just what the new trends will be for the coming holiday season and I was able to get an up close look. There will even be some reviews coming to the blog soon to help you get an idea of what to buy for Christmas for your kids or grands.
Sweet Suite 18- My Favorite Trends
Squishy Toys:
Around just about every bend of the vendor floor of Sweet Suite there was a new version of squishy toy. From small and compact to absolutely huge! They remind me of stress reliever balls, but way cuter and some even are scented. The Soft’n Slow Squishies were fun because the scent was different than the actual object. My daughter would like Boo the cinnamon roll since that is what I call her as a nickname. The Squishamals and Sqeezamals were just adorable and so soft.
Build Your Own:
I love the idea of kids putting together their toy. It gives them hands on experience with putting things together and showing how they could mix and match some of the pieces and characters from the collections. The Do Dats are a combination of beads and other pieces that make a cute character like Sprinkles. My daughter loves hanging stuff from her backpack and she was easily able to put this one together on her own. You can also take them apart and switch outfits with the other ones in the line. The Disney D-Lectables were a huge favorite of mine. I am slightly obsessed with Disney and these little cupcake/ice cream like stackables were precious. If your kid likes blind bag type stuff then they have tons to make all sorts of “characters” like Eeyore.
Creative Play:
I am big on finding toys that help my kids be more creative and bring out their artistic side. Crayola is more than just crayons and markers now. They have this cool tool that can melt down crayons and you can create new art with the Crayon Melter. No more throwing away the old crayons. Put them in and make your own masterpiece. Crayola is also coming out with other sets like the Color Chemistry and Slime kits which are huge right now.
It’s hard to not be able to write out everything that I saw there. I was busy talking and looking that I forgot to take too many pictures while I was there. We got in a huge box filled with some of the newest toys that I will be sharing here soon. I love going to Sweet Suite since it helps me see just what I might be able to get for my kids this next year and just what trends are moving around the toy space. Stay tuned for more reviews and cool items I will be sharing from Sweet Suite and all of the sponsors.
