My mom has had her Toyota Camry since 2006. There has been very little issues with it and still runs like it is almost new. Sure it doesn’t have all the updated tech and gadgets, but it is a timeless family sedan. She was a little jealous when she heard that I was getting a 2016 Toyota Camry XSE to test drive and almost didn’t want to see it for fear that she would want to upgrade hers. When you have a vehicle that can stand the test of time and driving, you want to hold on to it as long as possible.
There are definitely things that have changed in the 10+ years since she bought her Camry new and I want to point some of them out to share about this timeless family sedan and get it on your radar. The sizing is great for a family of four. My kids fits nicely in the rear seats with their boosters. They always love when there is the fold down armrest and cup holders. Soon they will not need their boosters and the ones for my car have cupholders. Kids always have drinks with them so cupholders are essential in the backseat. The more the better.
Trunk space is adequate just like every year has been. Can I take my large totes in them? No.. but they work for our soccer gear and chairs that we take each weekend. Most cars don’t have enough storage space for all the items I take to my vendor events, but work for everyday family life and even travel. Suitcases for 4 would easily fit in the trunk.
The styling and design has changed just a bit with a little more chiseled and sporty look than the previous models which I just love. The interior isn’t over the top with too many buttons or textures. It is just the right blend for being comfortable and not being overwhelmed with your surroundings.
This XSE model has leather as well as suede throughout. While I liked the suede on the doors, I wasn’t the biggest fan of it being in the center of the seats where most things gets spilled and dingy. Especially when the suede is a lighter grey, that just doesn’t pair well with kids.
So what has changed in 10 years for this timeless family sedan?
