I have been compensated by JOHNSON’S® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.
When you are traveling with baby, there are so many things that you have to take along with you besides just the regular diapers, milk, and clothes. Your diaper bag is usually full stocked and ready to go, but what else do you need? The list can be daunting when thinking of what all you have at your house that you may possibly need while you are gone. I will share what worked for me when my kids were younger and still does to this day.
Toiletries
I am so bad at forgetting little things when I travel. What I like to do is have one bag that contains all the needed toiletries and it always stays packed. Having a toiletries bag that is always packed will help lessen the stress of do I have body wash, do I have lotion? Especially if you are flying, best practice is to get some of the 3 oz plastic bottles in the travel section and you can put baby’s body wash, lotion, and other items that you need for them. I make labels for each bottle so that I know exactly what is in them. You can keep the full size ones at home and just refill the labeled bottles each time you get back home and store until the next trip.
I highly suggest taking along some of JOHNSON’s® BEDTIME® bath bubble bath and lotion. Travelling can be stressful and giving your baby a calming bath before bed or even before the flight will help them settle down as they are in a new place. Giving your baby a nice lotion massage can help calm nerves for the baby and yourself! I was able to find the travel as well as full size bottles of JOHNSON’s® products at Walmart.
If you are traveling during winter, another product I love and my kids still use is JOHNSON’S® Baby moisture wash with shea & cocoa butter. It gives a nice moisturizing feel to their delicate skin. Shhh don’t tell them but I use it too! Other toiletries to pack are of course toothbrush, hairbrush, some cotton swabs, and a small washcloth(take one of the baby ones that is softer than the hotel towels). Having a toiletries bag that is always packed with smaller sizes of your favorite everyday items makes it easier to just grab and go knowing that everything you need will already be in the bag.
Toys
To make traveling a little more special for baby or even older kids, set aside a favorite toy or even get a new one to bring on the trip. This will give your baby something new to play with or bring that familiar thing from home that will help them on your travels. Bring along that favorite blanket or lovie that they can cuddle as well to soothe when travels get to be too much.
Patience
Traveling with baby can be so stressful. My biggest piece of advice is to pack your patience. It doesn’t help baby at all when you get uptight and stressed if the plane is late or baby is a bit fussy. They will feed off your energy. This is where the Bedtime bath or lotion will come in handy too. While you wait for that delayed plane or during a pit stop on the road, take 5 minutes and connect with your baby and soothe them with the lotion.
Traveling with baby can be stressful, but if you follow some simple steps like always keeping a bag packed, having toys and lovies along, and really trying to be patient with the process then it can go so much smoother. It also helps to have a little help from our friends at Johnson and Johnson Consumer INC and their line of baby products that can be used at home or on the go. Pick some up today from Walmart.
