This Friday, March 22 is World Water Day, a day established by the United Nations to look at water issues around the world. WaterAid America uses this day to remind the world that over 11% of the worlds population does not have safe drinking water.

I can’t even imagine a life where I would have to worry about the water that I drink or that there is proper sanitation around. We are truly blessed to live in America and not have those worries, but what do you think the parents and kids who don’t live here go through each day? Can we even make a difference? Do we need to travel to those places without clean water and build them proper facilities ourselves? How can we teach our kids to appreciate the small things in life?

We can make a difference and no we don’t have to travel all of those places ourselves, but we should try to help in any way that we can to help bring awareness. We should support agencies like WaterAid America who does go into those places and helps them build wells and get proper sanitation so that so many children are not dying each day from unsafe drinking water. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to help and be a support, but it does take action and I think we can take a few minutes out of our busy days to help those who don’t have the funds to help themselves.

Water is just the beginning…..

On Friday there will be a Google+ hangout at 1:30 pm EST with WaterAid to discuss what is happening and look for solutions. So if you are available, make sure to show up and listen. Other ways you can help is by making a donation and even signing up for WaterAid emails so that you can stay up to date on the progress and change they are trying to accomplish.
