In this day and age, there are so many homes where both parents have to work. We are lucky that I am able to stay home and do various jobs that allow me to work here while I take care of my kids. For most, that just isn’t a feasible solution. This means the kids go to daycare or other sitter while the parents work.
In the book, Miss You Like Crazy by Pamela Hall, an adorable fuzzy little squirrel named Walnut talks with his mom over breakfast and tells her that he misses her during the day while she is at work. His mom talks about the fact that she misses him too. He then goes on to say all the ways that they could spend their day together if she was home or how he would stow away in items in her office to surprise her.
The mommy goes on to tell him that she has things around her office like a picture and other momentos that help her not miss her son so much since she can see his smiling face and it helps remind her of what she gets to come home to each day.
This is a great book to help kids see that while they miss mommy and daddy during they day while they are at work that parents feel the same way. It is just as hard to miss all the little milestones that kids go through while at work. One way to help is to have pictures around to remind you of why we do what we have to do each and every day and that giving your kids a photo of you will also help them with their sadness over their parents being gone.
This sweet squeezable little squirrel is just the reminder that each of us need and a way for kids to understand why mommy and daddy have to go off to work each day. Such a precious book!
